The CEO's Perspective on Growth
David Frigstad, Chairman of the Board,
Frost & Sullivan
The CEO's key responsibility is to drive growth – this is what makes
CEO’s famous or gets them fired. More than two thirds of CEO’s are
frustrated with their current growth rate and would like to see it
accelerated. A similar percentage of CEO’s see the need to improve
their management team’s ability to implement strategy at best
practice levels. The reality is that it is increasingly difficult to
grow at above average industry growth rates without a solid platform
to drive growth.
This platform – “The Growth Acceleration System” empowers companies
to develop a greater visionary perspective on their industry, create
more innovative growth strategies and implement them at best
practice levels. If you want to accelerate growth or want to learn
how to make smart growth investments this presentation shows you
how.
Key Take-Aways:
-
How to create a visionary perspective on
your industry
-
The importance of building the CEO’s
Growth Team

-
A system to generate a culture of growth,

-
A growth strategy workshop model that
will align and inspire the growth team
David Frigstad, Chairman of the Board
sets the stage for a very interactive and inspiring event which will
stimulate ideas, engage you, and introduce you to partners and
opportunities that will accelerate the growth of your company.

The Global Factory…Strategies for Globally Distributed Operations
Professor Peter J Buckley, Professor of
International Business and Director of the Centre for International
Business, University of Leeds, (CIBUL), UK
The concept of the Global Factory is a response to changes in the
organisation of multinational enterprises. Such firms are now
organised much more on a networked basis, using outsourcing and
offshoring as key strategic tools. The Global Factory examines
changes in global demand (“local/global contrasts”), supply and
production based on internalisation versus outsourcing, knowledge
management and the dynamics of creating value through intangible
assets and network configuration.
New strategies in the global firm include:
-
“Fine Slicing” locating every more finely
defined activities in least cost locations;
-
Outsourcing and Offshoring (“you don’t
have to own a facility to control it”) and
-
The orchestration role of the focal firm
in a network global factory. This structure provides flexibility and
resilience allowing firms to survive downturns, crises and panics.

Track 2: Automotive &
Transportation
Electric Vehicles:
Market Opportunities and New Business Models for All
Industry Stakeholders
The Electric Vehicles market is expected to change the
landscape of the automotive world and its related
industries. Everything from the design of vehicles,
sourcing of components, packaging and production of
vehicles right through to channels to market and the
fuelling of vehicles will be transformed. We will see
acceleration in the growth of electronics in vehicles,
and a curb in the use of hydraulic and mechanical
systems. New technology requirements will usher in a new
set of players with innovative solutions, and all those
that do not embrace the change will be threatened.. In
particular, new entrants who provide solutions within
the infrastructure market with batteries and
energy/power management solutions will benefit the most.
The industry will also bring innovative and agile
business models as the high cost of the battery will
need to be offset through the packaging of a unique
value proposition to customers.
Key Take-Aways:
- What are the Top 10
Global Trends for Electric Vehicles?

Innovation in Chemicals:
Growth Opportunities & Best Practice
For most companies, “innovation” can be a complex
process. In the first presentation of this interactive
session, attendees will have the opportunity to learn
about and discuss the types of innovation required by
chemicals and materials companies to meet the challenges
faced in the key downstream industries, such as
Automotive,
Construction and Personal Care. Here focus will be on
innovation being driven by global megatrends including:
globalisation, the low carbon economy, heath & wellbeing
and enhanced functionality. Global megatrends are having
a profound effect on the chemicals and materials
industry and are creating key challenges that the
industry must address. Innovation is essential to meet
these challenges. Companies able to offer novel
solutions will be the winners; whilst growth of those
who do not embrace the future will be threatened. We
will follow the opening session by looking at best
practice in innovation processes and you will have a
chance to hear from three
organisations who are the industry leaders in this
area. This is a unique platform designed to enable you to
benchmark, validate strategy, share best practices and
learn from each other's pitfalls and successes. |

Track 4: Energy &
Environment
Green & Smart Energy and
Sustainable Water Management
Energy and water continue to be the critical topics of
the day and - in spite of massive challenges in 2009 -
sustainability is still the key global issue. With
growth in global power and water consumption resuming,
the balance between traditional and new
technologies is being tested. Projects relating to
energy efficiency, renewable energy and water recycling
have all been hit by financing challenges, as a result
of the recent crisis. But confidence is already coming
back into the market, and the mid-to-longterm
prospects remain strong, and there are exciting
opportunities for the opening up of new and related
markets for smart technologies and infrastructure. Join
us to gain a 360 Degree Perspective of the opportunities
and challenges for sustainable and smart
solutions in the global energy and water marketplace.
Key Take-Aways:
- How has the Energy &
Environment sector faired during the global economic
turmoil and what has been the impact on business
models and value chains?
- Where are the
geographic hot spots, both now and in the future?
- How are opportunities
being shaped by the ongoing convergence of technology,
markets and competition?
- How are the roles of
industry stakeholders evolving (utilities, technology
providers, new entrants etc.)?

Track 5: Building
Technologies & Security
Smart Buildings:
Security and Technology Convergence
Developments in IT and increased technology performance
is leading to the convergence of products, systems and
competitors as organisations aspire to deliver a more
integrated solution. Convergence is a subject that
divides the security and
building technologies industry. Uncertainty over which
standards will prevail, challenges with developing a
clear value proposition and demonstrable ROI for
customers, and the difficulties associated with planning
for a market that isn’t clearly
defined are all top of mind challenges. Added to this,
new competitors are entering the market, value chains
are changing and a new customer is emerging. The
Building Technologies & Security Track at Frost &
Sullivan’s Growth, Innovation & Leadership
congress aims to tackle some of the most challenging
issues through insights and best practice identification
from Frost & Sullivan’s analyst team and some of the
sectors leading organisations. |

Track 6: Healthcare &
Life Sciences
Innovation in Healthcare
Technology is altering the way that modern medicine is
practiced. In the 1950s, ‘best practice’ was regarded as
the gold standard for high-quality care. At that time,
diagnosis and treatment promised to improve survival
rates. But today’s developments in the field of
genetics, information technologies, and nanotechnology
are enforcing a more individualised approach to
healthcare – often outside the hospital setting.
Concepts such as ‘the average patient’ are now viewed as
outdated. and standards within modern medical systems
are measured by different parameters, including: patient
access to the best-available treatments and to non-institutionalised
care; compliance with treatments; and, even – patient
choice. Inevitably, healthcare systems have to address
the new challenges posed by medical and scientific
advancement – and, more specifically, by the rise of
user-centric healthcare and patient empowerment. The
trend towards consumerdriven healthcare is already here.
Today’s patients conduct personal research on their own
medical conditions. Health tourism surges, with patients
travelling far and wide to get the best-possible or
cheapest medicine. The tendency is bound to continue,
given the low satisfaction rates with healthcare systems
reported by patients and the public. One thing is
certain. Attitudes, systems, and policies will all
change in healthcare over the next decade. The
Healthcare Industry Track will discuss many ambitious
ideas about possible developments in the field of
healthcare. These glimpses into the future of
healthcare, provided by leading health, technology and
innovation experts, project a fascinating new world of
possibilities that could become very real within the
next few years. |

Track 7: Information &
Communication Technologies
Cloud Computing in the
New Networked World
Cloud computing can support companies in overcoming
mission-critical challenges enabling achievement of
strategic and operational goals in the new networked
world through: collaboration; flexible business
processes; and efficiency.To-date, most cloud computing
projects have been driven by a cost-based business case.
Also, deployments have been done within organisational
silos (e.g. a specific department or subsidiary). In the
future, Frost & Sullivan believes that the focus for
cloud computing deployments will be value based and
increasingly enterprise-wide. To move in this direction,
organisations will generally have to acknowledge the
increasing need to communicate and network across and
beyond their own organisations. As such, Frost &
Sullivan believes cloud computing is a critical enabler
for the “networked organisation”. This Industry Track
will look into the Cloud Computing concept, with
discussions about how it will impact organisations in
any industry across key functional areas. The content of
the Track will highlight current-day insights about how
Cloud Computing is being leveraged and provide
perspectives on how its potential can best be leveraged
going forwards. |

The Automation, Electronics & Instrumentation industries
are at the threshold of a Wave of Convergence that has
its genesis from diverse Mega Trends that have far
reaching effects for an entire gamut of stakeholders.
The Mega Trends include Green Engineering, Evolution of
Industrial Wireless, SMART Architecture, Sustainable
Habitats and Synergy of Manufacturing Value Chains, that
will lead to ‘Factory of the Future'. Staying on top of
one's game means an optimal mix of focus on each of
these factors. What are the parameters of technology
