Hugh Scholaert Regional Group President, EMEA Aastra

Hugh Scholaert is one of the founders of Aastra Technologies, Inc. and a member of the board of directors since the company's inception in 1983. Hugh graduated from the University of Toronto's Engineering Science program in 1981, and received a Masters degree from the University of Toronto's Institute for Aerospace Studies in 1983. As a member of the senior management team at Aastra, Hugh has helped transform the company into a major global provider of enterprise telecommunications products. Hugh played an active role in the restructuring and consolidation of previous Aastra acquisitions from both a business and an R&D standpoint. Becoming Senior Vice President R&D and Product Line Management in January 2007, Hugh has headed Aastra's Strategic Planning Committee and has helped Aastra evolve into a new kind of enterprise telecommunications company based on IP innovation, open standards, and mobility. In June 2008, Hugh was appointed Regional Group President and currently heads the business activities of Aastra in parts of Western Europe (BeNeLux, France, Italy, Nordic and Baltic countries, United Kingdom) as well as the Middle East and Africa.
